I tried, I really did....

Prices for movies are still ridiculous! Now I see creating torrents as a community service. Fuck the establishment!

Since the corps finally came to the party with CDN services and settop boxes to stream the media, they have started a model that resembles the old video rental stores, or subscriptions that mimic cable TV services.  I don't like them but I am old and set in my ways, which were cemented in place when my family bought our second VCR ;)

LOLOL..... It's funny you've said that... I literally grew up in both VCR and the torrent age. There's something about the 80s were many of us get stuck. Hence P2P was my vain/addiction/way of internet life, whatever you want to call it. As streaming became more of a convenience than using torrents, I've tried to do the right thing. But the quality of movies have tanked. They often don't have the movies people REALLY wanted to see; and the large studios refuse to put their best movies on streaming, 'cause they still want to charge you $20 or more to digitally buy it. Nobody has this kind of money anymore. It may sound cheap to them, but it's a lot to most of us. Nobody told them to give those actors exorbitant amount of salaries, then try to push it off on the consumer/fans.

If you're a movie fan, $12 is a lot, 'cause you're not just buying a single movie. You're several (perhaps every week). That adds up!!

I get most of my movies at Goodwill. I live down the street from it.

On a more scavenger note, when they're closed, people still drop stuff off, and it's first come first serve. Someone dropped a garbage bag full of DVD's. Mostly crap, but I got a couple good ones.

There is one jerk manager at the goodwill who keeps trying to double the price of movies, but any time I email their city office, the price magically comes back down.

Recently, I was trying to buy a season of a TV show, and the disk was missing. So I brought it to the front, and they removed it.

Over the next month, it was kind of a game of hacky sack, some jerk employee would put the incomplete set back out, I'd bring it to the front with a smile.

I got tired of that, so I asked the one I chat with on her smoke break if she could mark it as incomplete. It's still on the shelf, but at least Caveat Emptor trumps "AS-IS, NO REFUNDS"

you think $12 for a movie is bad, I'm trying to get ahold of the PC game Scarface (Legitimately, I already played the high seas edition) and it's about $250 for the US PC version. Maybe it will show up at goodwill. :P

Seriously? Wow, I give games for year of two and the price jumps to over double!

Also, good to see you 8ullfrog, it's been a long time. I thought about you the other day and when I was thinking about time gone by. All good stuff of course!

Hah, just got an "official warning" on the EA forum for telling a dude that requesting a crack was piracy.

My post was removed for "Tone" and the dude went off on me in PM, then said I'm not allowed to question it.

Huh, looks like someone put up two copies of scarface for $48, that's way better than $250.

Good to see you again.

LOLOLOLOLOLOL I'm telling you! Everything is a racket. My attitude changed so much over the past few decades. We're getting fucked by the studios, and we're getting fucked by "closeouts," "open boxes," whatever you want to categorize them! This is why I have officially became a full-time pirate. Fuck all of them. I don't like being abused. These MF have no shame either. I would NEVER judge ANYONE for pirating ANYTHING! Although, music is practically free already, you're a douche if you pirate that (unless there's no other way of getting it). Sharing torrents is a community service!!!! Especially when it comes to hard to find shit.

Amazon's pretty good about that type of stuff.

One time I ordered a CE for an in-game item. They shipped the CE with all the extras that make the box big... but not the CD-Key.

Amazon not only refunded me, they sent a copy of the game on their dime. I ended up not playing much, but it's pretty good customer service.

The request for a crack is still up.

Honestly, I'd pay $30 for scarface, but $48 is a bit much. It's not a great game, I just enjoyed the vulgarity and how you can get eaten by a shark.

Yeah! Amazon is amazing when it comes to those things. I don't use anybody else but Amazon. However, with the exception of one or two TV shows, most of their streaming movies suck! They get torrented too.

I remember they got in a hissy fit and blocked chromecast devices, but google blocks sources too. I thought I had a configuration error, but it turns out that's just one of the ways google is "cute". Instead of getting an error code, you get a blue icon in the middle of your screen.

Apparently they're going to have a series from the comic book "The Boys" soon, and that's somewhat mind blowing, I always thought comic book movies would exist in the sanitized PG-13 realm, but Deadpool sure did prove me wrong.  I mean people are talking about Ant Man going up Thanos Butthole, and in the trailer for The Boys some shrinking guy goes in a woman's hoo hah.

Also appears they're keeping up the slaughterhouse level gore.

Yeah, that's one of the reasons I canceled all my streaming services. Almost all the new content they come out with is so sexualized, and a bunch of vulgar language. Like, they really think if they don't have these things, it's not a good movie. I don't understand how adults feel comfortable watching many of these shows with their kids? Not that old movies weren't raunchy, but it's really gone overboard.  I'm not paying for that shit anymore. If I do, it will be to rip the shows for posting. But I can't see that happening anytime soon.

Well, while I'd certainly agree with "different strokes for different folks", That's what The Boys is. Maybe I should go make a post in TV or comics, not sure which would be a better place for that.

Personally, I think TV, but I guess it doesn't really matter.
